Welcome to a new driving tour leading into Nebraska and a walking tour of the Air Force Aero Space Museum and the Museum of American Speed. There is a maximum of 25 cars for this tour.
This drive will leave Des Moines from the Hotel Renovo parking lot. Drivers meeting will be held promptly at 7:30 am - please arrive with a full tank of gas. The first group will depart at 8:00 am.
We will navigate through Southwest Iowa stopping for lunch in Clarinda at the Ice House Restaurant. From there we will proceed to Strategic Air Command and Aero Space Museum (www.sacmuseum.org) which was founded in1959, is over 200,000 sq.ft. of military aircraft. For dinner we will separate into three pre-determined groups at different great restaurants within walking distance of our hotel. In the morning we will drive to The Museum of American Speed (www.museumofamericanspeed.org) which was founded in 1992, is over 160,000 sq.ft. of all facets of racing automobiles and more with over 395 displays, covering three floors. Upon completion of this tour returning to Des Moines is on your own.
The fees, per person, for the museum tour at SAC are $12.00 for seniors and for the MAS are $10.00 for seniors. This is to be paid by yourselves at each museum.
Event requirements
This event is classified as a "driving tour" and will be conducted in accordance with the Porsche Club of America's Driving Tour Standards. We will be using Ride with GPS phone app for navigation.
